PENS PECAHKAN REKOR MURI

Sebuah prestasi bidang robotika kembali diraih oleh PENS. Kali ini bukan karena robotnya melainkan “hasil” dari pertandingan robot. Pasalnya besok PENS akan dikukuhkan sebagai Pemecah Rekor MURI untuk “Juara/ Pemenang Kontes Robot Indonesia Sebanyak 11 kali berturut-turut dari tahun 1993-2009”.

“Ide ini muncul dari keinginan PENS untuk mendokumentasikan prestasi robotika yang pernah dicapai. Melalui MURI, kami berharap memperoleh pengakuan atas prestasi kami baik di tingkat nasional maupun internasional,”ungkap Ir. Dadet Pramadihanto, M.Eng, Ph.D. Direktur PENS.

Icon “Robotik” ini sebetulnya tidak dicapai dalam waktu yang singkat. Perjuangan serta pengorbanan Civitas Akademika sejak awal berdirinya PENS th. 1989 turut mendukung terwujudnya prestasi robotika PENS. Keikutsertaan PENS di event kompetisi robot internasional bermula dari adanya kerjasama yang cukup baik dengan Pemerintah Jepang, melalui JICA. “JICA-lah yang memperkenalkan kita dengan kompetisi robot internasional. Saat itu kami diajak ikut untuk tingkat kosen (tingkat Politeknik, red)” kata Dadet menerawang.

Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya dikukuhkan sebagai kampus yang telah memajukan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (ICT) di Indonesia dalam ajang TELKOM SMART CAMPUS AWARD (TeSCA) 2009, pada acara Grand Launch PT Telkom Indonesia di Jakarta, semalam.

TeSCA merupakan salah satu program penghargaan Indigo award yang tiap tahun diberikan oleh PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom). Pada TeSCA 2009 kali ini, Telkom membagi penghargaan tersebut ke dalam tiga kategori dalam dua pemenang di tiap kategorinya. Selain itu, terdapat lima kategori penghargaan lainnya dengan total peserta 231 perguruan tinggi se- Indonesia.

“Apresiasi lebih untuk PT Telkom atas usahanya menyelenggarakan kegiatan ini,”ungkap Ir. Dadet Pramadihanto, M.Eng, Ph.D melalui wawancara per-telepon kemarin. Penghargaan ini dinilai prestisius karena berhubungan dengan sejauh mana penetrasi dan operasional IT dalam pelaksanaan pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia. “Namun demikian, perlu diupayakan penyusunan instrumen ukur evaluasi yang jelas sehingga nantinya dapat dijadikan standar nasional” sarannya.

Visa Exemption to Thailand

• According to the Interior Ministerial Announcements dated 1 October B.E. 2545 (2002), 20 December B.E. 2545 (2002), 18 October B.E. 2547 (2004) and 6 May B.E. 2548 (2005), passport holders from 41 countries and 1 special administrative region – Hong Kong SAR – are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 30 days on each visit. If such foreigners enter the Kingdom at the immigration checkpoints which border neighboring countries, they will be allowed to stay for 15 days each time,  except Malaysian nationals who cross the borderline from Malaysia whose granted period of stay will not exceed 30 days each time.
• Please note that Tourist Visa Exemption does not apply to foreigners holding Travel Document for Aliens issued by these countries.
• Foreigners entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption category must possess adequate finances for the duration of stay in Thailand (i.e., cash 10,000 Baht per person and 20,000 Baht per family).

1. propose a Markov chain-based analytical framework for modeling the behavior of the medium access control (MAC) protocol in IEEE 802.15.4 multihop wireless sensor networks
2. Extend the framework proposed in “I. Ramachandran, A. K. Das, and S. Roy, “Analysis of the contention access period of IEEE 802.15.4 MAC,” ACM Trans. Sensor Networks, vol. 3, no. 1, 29 pages” to 2-hop network scenario.
