Discrete Event Systems Syllabus

Instructor : Prof. Sheng-Luen Chung

learn about the modeling, analysis and control of “discrete event dynamical systems” (DES). These are dynamical systems that have discrete state spaces and event-driven dynamics. DES arise in the modeling of technological systems such as automated manufacturing systems, computer systems, and communication networks.

TextBook :
Introduction to Discrete Event Systems, by Christos G. Cassandras and Stéphane Lafortune, Springer / Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1999.
The textbook will be followed fairly closely (first five chapters). It will be supplemented by lecture notes (part of which will be posted on the web site).
